Zoo Camp

All sessions of ZooCamp teach an appreciation for and understanding of animals and nature through live animal interactions, animal observations, environmental games, arts & crafts, and many other exciting activities. ZooCamp sessions emphasize the importance of conservation and environmental stewardship. Each session focuses on a different aspect of animal life. Sessions are offered for children entering grades K-8. All sessions of ZooCamp are aligned with Maryland Voluntary State Curriculum Standards for Science. NEW! Spring Break Camps 2012
* 2 2-day camps 9:00am-3:00pm April 2 & 3 and April 4 & 5
* Members: $50, $65 Non-members
* Monday & Tuesday (April 2 & 3) = K - 2nd grade,
   Wednesday & Thursday (April 4 & 5) = 3rd - 5th grade
* After Care available from 3:00pm-5:00pm, $10 per day
* Topic for both camps: Marvelous Delmarva

Family Workshops

Family Workshops provide the opportunity for parents to learn with their children while doing eduationally fun activities at the Salisbury Zoo.  Each workshop includes a discussion on the topic, live animal presentations, when available and a hands-on activity or game.
 
Who: Workshops are geared for children 10 and under 
When:  Third Saturday of each month at 10:00 am, November through March.
Where: Education Building
How much: $6 per child; must be accompanied by an adult. 
 
Pre-registration required by Friday prior to the workshop.

                        How many big cats can you name? How big do you have to be to be called a big cat?  Meet the zoo’s big cats and find out!

Dec. 17 2011            Snuggling Down for the Winter (Hibernation)

                        Sometimes the best way to get through the winter is to sleep through it! Find out which animals like to hibernate.

Jan. 21 2012           Endangered Animals

                        What does it mean to be endangered? How does this happen? Come learn about some endangered species and what you can do to protect wildlife!

Feb. 18 2012         How Animals find their Mates

                        Animals can attract mates in many ways. Some animals fight, some bring gifts, and some use fancy colors to show off. Find out how animals find their mates and how animal families interact.

Mar. 17 2012         It’s Not Easy Being Green!

                        It is easy to be green! Environmentally friendly, that is.  Find out what you can do to help save the Earth!

Storytime

This free program is intended for preschool children and their parents. Four and five year old children and accompanying adults are invited to join Wildlife Interpreters for an animal story, fun and sometimes silly songs and games and related craft project. This program is not intended for large groups or daycare centers.
Feel free to join us every Tuesdays at 10:00 am, March through November.
